The peaceful meditation of room tone time.

Cinematographers love room tone. It's those seconds between set-ups when no one's talking and you can evaluate

what you've just done, and think about next steps. Cinematography is all about being prepared and delegating to department heads - key grip, 1st AC, Camera Operator (if it's not you), and gaffer. Who will you talk to first? Who will need the most time, who will take your request and come back with an even better idea? Often, that's the first person you'll want to talk to after room tone ends, and the 1st AD says, "moving on..."
